Set in 2045, Ready Player Two takes place shortly after the events of Ready Player One. Wade Watts, the teenage hero of the first book, has inherited the vast fortune and technological empire of James Halliday, the creator of the virtual reality game OASIS. Wade is now the owner and CEO of Gregarious Games, the company that runs OASIS. One day, Wade receives a mysterious message from Halliday, who has left him a final challenge. Wade must find three keys hidden within OASIS, which will lead him to a hidden treasure. If Wade can find the treasure, he will win control of OASIS. However, Wade is not the only one searching for the keys. A powerful corporation called IOI is also after the treasure, and they will stop at nothing to get it. Wade must use all of his skills and knowledge of OASIS to find the keys and win the treasure before IOI does.
Review:
Ready Player Two is a fast-paced and exciting sequel to Ready Player One. Cline does a great job of creating a world that is both familiar and new. The OASIS is even more immersive and interactive than it was in the first book, and Wade's quest to find the keys is thrilling. The characters are well-developed and relatable, and the story is full of twists and turns. Fans of Ready Player One will not be disappointed by Ready Player Two.
